Big Game Hunt

Non-residents wishing to hunt big game (bear, moose or caribou) in Newfoundland and Labrador must apply through one of the province’s outfitting companies.

Cod Fishing

The Newfoundland and Labrador Recreational Groundfish Fishery – known locally as the “Recreational Food Fishery” – usually open for 40 days a year. Every Saturday, Sunday and Monday from July to September. The recreational fishery is open to both residents and non-residents.

Salmon And Trout Licence

Salmon season opens in June and closes in September. Summer Trout season opens in May and closes in August. Winter Trout Ice fishing opens in February closes in March.

Guide Requirements
• A non-resident shall not angle scheduled salmon waters unless accompanied by a licenced guide or by a direct relative who is a resident.
• A non-resident may angle unaccompanied on non-scheduled waters within 800 metres of a provincial highway; beyond that point an angler must be accompanied by a licenced guide or direct relative who is a resident.
